Learn-about Plaster and render spraying

Spraying plaster or render is much faster than applying it with a hand tool

Plaster spraying [2]
Plaster spraying [2]

Plaster spraying is widely done on the Continent and is standard practice in most European countries, such as Germany, Benelux, France and Scandinavia.  Plasterers that spray it, reckon that they can skim dry lining (plaster board) at least 5 times faster than with a traditional float.  The plaster must be sprayable, that is to say that it can be pumped without the solid material separating from the liquid under pressure;  most cementitious materials cannot be sprayed with pumped equipment, although a hopper gun may be able to handle them

Render spraying is possible if the render is formulated so that the solid materials do not separate under pressure.  Cementitious materials are usually not suitable. Render sprayers require a special spray gun which injects compressed air to blast the render into a spray.  Please see the section on render sprayers
