Low U-value

Polyurethane (PU) foam spraying is a time tried method of quickly applying an layer of insulating foam, that provides a low U-value of better than 0.25 W/m2 for a 75mm layer.

Leaves no air gaps

With the advent of the part L of the new building regulations, insulation foam spraying has achieved a new importance, because but it also seals any air gaps which is a requirement of the these regulations.

Does not transmit moisture

The PU foam is a closed cell structure, so it will not transmit moisture and can be used to completely fill a cavity wall, unlike mineral wool which must be pinned to the inside leaf to leave a humidity gap that reduces the efficiency of the insulation.

Requires special spray

The PU foam is sprayed with special airless equipment having 2 pumps that deliver the 2 components to a special spray gun where they are mixed just before they leave the spray tip, and foam up within a few seconds after they have reached the surface to be insulated.

Lion Industries can supply the correct 2-component spray equipment to suit the type of foam spraying that you plan to do, and train you in how to use it.

Join the trade association

The British Polyurethane Contractors Association (BUFCA) provides a valuable support service for their members, keeping them up to date with the latest regulations, technical support, contacts with foam material suppliers and most important, help customers find their members. They also promote the use of PU foam insulation. BUFCA can be reached on www.bufca.co.uk
